LP & LL – April ’19

LESSON PLANS & LIFE LESSONS

April / May 2019

SO SOON: HOW IS THIS SEMESTER DRAWING TO A CLOSE ALREADY?

We’ve had an amazing semester. We’ve connected Catalyst’s “life-coaches” with Catalyst’s students. We’ve explored lots of great information and uncovered inspiration in the following courses: Relationship Skills (1st block), The Old Testament & Its Influence (2nd block), and The New Testament & Its Influence (3rd block). We have learned together. We have explored God’s love for us together (as detailed in the Scripture). We have laughed together (especially on fun Friday). Like most semesters (especially Spring semesters), I cannot believe this one is drawing to an end. We have been truly blessed by our time together. May God give us 15 more years of faithful service to the community through many more semesters in the Catalyst Christian Learning Center classroom.

PRAYER REQUEST – MY DAUGHTER: JORJANNE FLAKE

Jorjanne Flake (daughter of Natalie and Jeff Ford) is heading off to college in August. Here school is Georgia Southern. She is planning to major in early childhood education. Jorjanne wants to be an elementary school teacher. She is well on her way to accomplishing her dreams thanks to White County School, loving friends and family, and even in small part thanks to the Catalyst Christian Learning Center. When Jorjanne was in 10th grade one of her teachers was Mr. Ford (that’s me: her dad). What fun we had. I thought it would be strange for her, but it turned out to be one of her favorite classroom experiences of her high school career. Please pray for her as she takes this next big step to adult-hood. Thank you for helping her accomplish her dreams.

TEACHERS AND THEIR SUMMER BREAK (AN OPPORTUNITY FOR A MISSION TRIP OR 2 OR 3

I am a school teacher; therefore, I am a bit spoiled. I admit it. As a teacher of high school my non-teacher peers are often curious about what we do with our time in the summer (my wife, Natalie is also a teacher… not to high school students, but to college enrolled pupils. Well here’s another opportunity to share some family prayer concerns. This summer we will (together at times and apart at other times) be “on mission” with Jesus in faraway and relatively nearby lands.

2 TRIPS in June:

  1. Natalie and Jorjanne are going to Kenya (please pray for them and their team from Truett-McConnell University).
  2. I (Jeff) am going to Cincinnati, Ohio for a church build / renovation, this will be my second trip to Cincinnati in as many summers working with an Alabama Mission Team (the Etowah Baptist Mission Team). This is also a team that hails from my hometown of Gadsden, Alabama.

1 TRIP in July:

All three of us (Natalie, Jorjanne, and Jeff) are headed to Tennessee with a team from our home church: Helen First Baptist. We will be working with a Christian Camp… doing camp work, construction, community evangelism, and just about anything they want us to do.

Thank you for your prayers and for supporting the Catalyst Christian Learning Center!

In Christ,

Jeff Ford
